Do I receive academic credit?
No. We're keeping the program simple so motivated student entrepreneurs can start building their startups.
Currently, there are opportunities to explore entrepreneurship within the curriculum, such as the E3 Entrepreneurship Minor and the Business of Creative Enterprise Major, launching in the fall of 2016.
Do I have to do two years?
No. In fact, startups admitted to Year 1 do not automatically qualify for Year 2, and must re-apply to continue.
Does Emerson launch or Emerson own my business or idea?
No. Only you and your team do.
Does this increase my tuition or cost me money?
How do I organize the funds granted to my team?
You will receive access to your funds after drafting a plan to achieve your objectives.
Funds should be used for strategic investments in services, tools, or materials to launch your start-up.
Can members of my team be non-Emerson students?
Emerson Launch was created for the Emerson community. At lead one founder must be an Emerson student, and the majority of team members must be enrolled Emerson undergraduate or graduate students. If you wish to propose a team member who is not an Emerson student, you should demonstrate proof that they have a critical skill set that can't be found within the Emerson community.
Can members of my team graduate before our startup finishes its time in Emerson launch?
Like non-Emerson students, recent graduates cannot be Team Leaders. If a member of your team is going to graduate before the end of your startup's time in Emerson Launch, make the case for why that member is essential.
